09 Aug Anticipated change in Canada-USA border measures
Fully vaccinated citizens and permanent residents of the United States of America currently residing in the United States will be able to enter Canada for a non-essential travel starting from August 9, 2021.
At the moment, the Government of Canada only accepts the following four vaccines: Pfizer, Moderna, AstraZeneca and Janssen.
Citizens and permanent residents of the United States must be fully vaccinated for 14 days or more prior to their entry to Canada. These travellers will be exempt from 14-day quarantine as well as a Day-1 and a Day-8 Covid-19 tests if they meet a “Canadian definition” of being fully vaccinated and if they have no Covid-19 symptoms.
All previous pre-arrival requirements didn’t change including a pre-entry Covid-19 molecular test result, information submission through ArriveCan and an obligation to have a quarantine plan in case of a failure of meeting Canadian criteria of a “fully vaccinated person”.
As a second step, Canada plans to open its borders to any fully vaccinated travellers on September 7, 2021.
